I have a gross but useful thought. It’s about spiritual strongholds.
James says … For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every evil practice.
… Webster’s …
1. (a.) Caring supremely or unduly for one’s self; regarding one’s own comfort, advantage, etc., in disregard, or at the expense, of those of others.
2. (a.) Believing or teaching that the chief motives of human action are derived from the love of self.
Me, me, me,
My, my, my
It’s SO easy to get drawn into my needs.
As a Christian, we can see that when we have selfish ambition – promoting ourselves, our needs, our wants,
Putting ourselves before others we start a downward spiral.
🔸We never get enough. It’s never good enough, we want more.
🔸We lose contentment and start feeling put out by others, offended by their lack of provision of our needs.
Self, self, self
Think about a time that you were UNselfish, you cared for the welfare of someone else above yourself.
Those times your heart feels good! You felt joy.
Now think about that ugly gnawing feeling in your heart when you are mad because things didn’t go like you think they should
Or mad because you weren’t treated like you should be.
Compare the two experiences
God’s way – being unselfish equals joy and peace
Selfish equals feeling tension, strife, anxiety, and frustration
My gross thought is
Those selfish thoughts are like leaches sucking the goodness of God out of you. BLEH!!!
God sees it.
We all have that HORRID condition, it’s called sin.
Because we have been saved by the blood of Jesus and are filled with His Holiness
We can get rid of those leaches.
Pray and ask the Lord to show you where they are in your heart.
They ARE there
And when He shows them to you, don’t be afraid, God is able to remove them all.
Leaches are disgusting. Sin is disgusting
Jesus lives the ultimate unselfish life
Daily He is here to continually clean us of sin.
When you see sin
Hate it, rebuke it and pray to the Lord
“My God, my Rock, in Him will I take refuge; my Shield and the Horn of my salvation; my Stronghold and my Refuge, my Savior — “You save me from violence”
Or any other verse the Lord gives you.
And daily you and God will peel off those disgusting leaches (or ticks)
☀️ And then one day a leech will come near but won’t even be able to attach because you will be strong in the love of Christ.
And that is a hallelujah day!!
That is VICTORY in Jesus ✝️
